Uranus in Taurus: When Solid Ground Starts to Move

Astrokolo Editorial·November 3, 2026·11 min read

Taurus values what can be held, counted and handed down to one's children, and Uranus goes straight to where things look immovable to test whether they really are. From May 2018 to April 2026 the planet shook money, habits and the very ground underfoot, and in the charts of people born in those years Uranus in Taurus remains the mark of a whole generation. The previous such generation arrived in 1934–1942.

The second sign holds on to the soil harder than any other: earth gives it a feel for matter, the fixed modality patience and stubbornness, and its ruler Venus taste and a love of the physical. Our guide to the twelve signs shows where it sits in the whole circle. Uranus has no classical dignity here: the tables of rulerships were drawn up long before William Herschel spotted the planet through his telescope in 1781. Modern astrology gives Uranus Aquarius, and some modern authors treat Taurus as the place of its fall. The idea is debated, yet it captures the point: the planet of sudden change lands in the sign that likes change least.

The essence: a jolt beneath the foundations

Uranus shows where a person cannot bear the established order and where life changes in leaps. Taurus does everything slowly: it grows a harvest, builds savings, forms habits meant to last for years. So Uranus in Taurus works like a tremor under the foundations. It has no interest in destruction for its own sake: it reveals what was held up only by inertia and makes you rebuild from a different material.

For this generation stability is not given at birth; it has to be invented. Venus becomes the dispositor of Uranus here, so much depends on her condition. The placement opens most easily when Venus in Taurus is also in the chart: the ruler in her own domicile gives novelty taste and measure, and change brings a tangible, almost physical benefit.

Money, the body and the ground underfoot

Money is the first thing Uranus in Taurus touches. Income tends to be uneven, and these people often earn in unusual ways: from an invention, a small business of their own, a profession that was not yet in the careers guide. Freedom matters more to them than the amount: better less, with no one else in control. For society, the seven years of this transit change money itself: how we pay, what we invest in and whom we trust with our savings.

The second theme is the body and the land. Taurus governs the senses, food and nature, and Uranus brings experiment: unusual ways of eating, new materials, vegetables on a city balcony, a sudden passion for a craft. The body of someone with this placement tolerates monotony badly and is the first to signal that the routine must change.

1934–1942: the generation that kept everything

The previous visit, as calculated with Swiss Ephemeris, began on 6 June 1934; Uranus settled in Taurus for good at the end of March 1935 and left in May 1942. The world was rewriting its ideas about money and matter. In 1936 John Maynard Keynes published The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money, doubting that markets always balance themselves. In December 1938 in Berlin, Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann found that the nucleus of uranium, the element once named after the planet, breaks apart when struck by a neutron: the most solid matter turned out to be divisible.

This generation spent its childhood in hardship and the Second World War, so for many thrift became a reflex: throw nothing away, keep a reserve. In those born in 1939–1942 Uranus stands 120 degrees from Neptune, which was moving through Virgo, and in spring 1942 Uranus and Saturn met on the last degree of Taurus, 29°20′. In the late 1950s, when Uranus reached Leo and stood at a right angle to its natal place, these people were about twenty; in the second half of the 1970s it stood directly across, in Scorpio. And 2018–2026 brought them the Uranus return, which comes once in a lifetime, at around 84.

Children of 2018–2026: money they never held

Today's Uranus in Taurus generation was born between May 2018 and April 2026, apart from a few months around the turn of 2018–2019 and the stretch from July to November 2025. Their early childhood coincided with the pandemic declared in March 2020: closed nurseries and parents working from home. These children see money on a phone screen more often than in a wallet; in 2021 El Salvador became the first country to make bitcoin legal tender.

Other slow planets stand beside Uranus in their charts. Neptune in Pisces, in its own sign, was in the sky for almost the whole period, adding compassion and imagination to practical inventiveness. Pluto moved through Capricorn until late 2024 and then crossed into Aquarius; for children born in 2018–2020 it stands at a right angle to natal Uranus right now, between 2024 and 2030, so old rules wear out for them especially fast. Many of those born in 2021 have Uranus at 90 degrees to Saturn, and in children of spring 2024 Uranus sits right next to Jupiter.

Your Uranus: house and links to personal planets

Uranus becomes personal through the house it occupies: there a person values independence most and meets sudden turns most often. If that house governs money, income moves in leaps; if partnership, relationships need room to breathe; if career, the path is made of unexpected swerves.

The angles to personal planets matter even more. A close tie to Venus makes tastes and attachments changeable and draws the person to the unusual in love and beauty. A link to the Moon, exalted in Taurus, unsettles the need for domestic calm: they want a nest and freedom at once. An angle to the Sun turns the generational theme into a character trait: this is the person who changes the familiar order in their own family.

After 26 April 2026: the balance and a new sign

Uranus first entered Taurus on 15 May 2018, slipped back into Aries in the autumn and returned for good on 6 March 2019. The sharpest months came in 2021, when Saturn, from Aquarius, stood at a right angle to it three times: on 17 February, 14 June and 24 December. On 21 April 2024 Jupiter caught up with Uranus at 21°50′ Taurus, a meeting that happens once every fourteen years. The last station in the sign came on 4 February 2026 at 27°28′, and on 26 April the planet left for good, not to return until the spring of 2102.

The sky now holds Uranus in Gemini, where it stays until 2033; since 10 September 2026 it has been moving backwards and turns direct on 8 February 2027 at 1°40′. What looked odd seven years ago — paying with a phone, working from home, tomatoes on the balcony — has become routine, and Uranus is already rebuilding words, learning and connection. For you personally, these years ran through the house where Taurus lies in your chart: look back and name what changed there unexpectedly, because that is the footing Uranus left behind.

The shadow: stubbornness turned inside out

The shadow of this placement is a mix of stubbornness and restlessness. A person clings for years to something that stopped working long ago, then tears it all up in one move: quits the day after a bonus, sells the flat because “I'm sick of it”. Money becomes an arena for rebellion too: an impulsive bet on a fashionable novelty, followed by anxiety.

In relationships this Uranus wants security and space at once, and a partner finds it hard to guess which need to meet today. How your need for freedom fits your partner's wish for solid ground is shown by synastry between your charts, especially where one person's Uranus touches the other's Venus or Moon.

Translate this theme from the language of signs into the language of houses and you get Uranus in the 2nd house: the same leaps in income and the same need to earn in one's own way, found in people of any birth year. A child of 2018–2026 whose Uranus sits in the second house receives the theme in its purest form. The opposite end of the axis is Uranus in Scorpio: on the line between the second and eighth houses, what is mine becomes ours, and the planet stirs up not the wallet but trust, debts, inheritance and intimacy. Some modern authors consider that sign the place of Uranus's exaltation.

How to stand on ground that moves

Separate the reserve from the experiment. Uranus in Taurus likes to take a risk, so give it a set share of money and time, and keep the rest by the rules. Then change arrives as your choice rather than as an earthquake.

Change habits one at a time. Sharp turns come easily to this Uranus but rarely last: one new habit lived for three months takes deeper root than ten introduced in a week.

Build stability on skills rather than things. A craft or a profession you can take with you will outlast any jolt. Look separately at how Uranus is linked to your Venus, Moon and Sun: the nature of that link decides whether change arrives smoothly or with a bang. The difference between harmonious and tense angles is explained in our article on aspects in astrology.
